MANY SMILES FOR A BETTER PLANET
1923 – 2010

Clip from song Momma's Wisdom by Lawrey Jack Smashnuk, vocals by Darcy Windover

mommaswisdom.com has grown from a song I wrote called Momma's Wisdom.  It has also become the title of an album of my songs produced collaboratively with Dave Engle and Darcy Windover.

This album is my tribute to my Mom and the ready smile she carried throughout her life. I do not try to pass her off as the wisest of women, but when you willingly carry the warmth of a smile I think you are on the right path.

Her smile shines through another song on the album called Beauty Grows. My cousin Lyn Sande (nee Hawryluk) was kind enough to sing this song for me at her funeral, thank you Lyn. Without the warmth of my Mom's smile I most likely could not have found the words for Two Way Street.

I am working on a video that will show the making of the album cover for the songs. It is complicated. It includes many Brand Viagra photographic images from her life and her family. This video raises a hard question: do you recall the sound of your mothers voice? and what about the sound of her mothers voice? This short video will have a sound bite I recorded as she viewed an old photograph of her Mom. It is dear to me and will likely become more precious to her grand children, and in turn their grand children. For those who think content for a blog is hard to find, it is there in your old photo albums if you care to bridge a few generational barriers with your recording unit close at hand. I am collecting pictures of Mom's grandchildren(some of their earliest), each with the smile she passed along to them, and they will feature on the album cover when it is complete. They will be made to appear like paintings to preserve the innocence and the essence of the wisdom that a smile conveys to the big bad world around us. The oval I include on this page shows my Mom as a young girl and later into her eighties. It features one of the best pictures we could find of her and I confess I got carried away with my Photoshop course as the oval background consists of Pysanky (Ukraninan Easter Eggs). My Mom learned to make those Easter Eggs from her mother. The eggs shown were created by my sister the way she learned from my Mom. I believe there are many blog topics that will emmanate from my new site. As I learn to better manage the WordPress system and get my video editing caught up I hope you will enjoy the journey I plan to explore on these web pages . Stop by often, you are most welcome.
